MARVIN LEE “PETE” DOZIER, 88, passed peacefully Wednesday, March 19, 2014. He was born Jan. 1, 1926 in Princess Anne County, VA. He was predeceased by his parents, Oscar Lee and Mary Love Fulford Dozier; his daughter, Jacqueline Lee Dozier; his sister, Mary Anne Dozier Frost, and his brother, James Edward “Buck” Dozier.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years , Lettie Doxey Dozier; daughter, Linda Dozier Jordan (Danny); son, Randy Dozier (Lynne), two precious granddaughters, Melissa Frazier Oliver (Rob) and Lindsey Frazier; nephew, Jeryl D. Frost and niece, Elizabeth Anne Frost Filderman.
A farmer all of his life, Pete was an avid hunter and served as Hunt Master of the Blackwater Hunt Club for over 60 years. He enjoyed fishing and trapping and was a supporter of the Nature Conservancy. He was a great storyteller and regaled family, friends and neighbors with stories of his upbringing. He was especially proud of his brother who died serving during WW II.
Pete was a charter member of the Blackwater Fire and Rescue Squad and a member of the Creeds Ruritan Club for over 50 years. In 2005, he was named Virginia Beach “Man of the Year in Agriculture.” Pete was a member of Blackwater Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Blackwater Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
