Martin Edward “Pete” Gregory, 61, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia he was the son of the late Aloysius Gregory and Thelma Brothers. He was also predeceased by a brother, James M. Gregory. Pete was a Shipfitter Supervisor for Shop 11, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, from which he recently retired after more than 37 years.

He was a member of Indian River Baptist Church. He was also a member of the South Norfolk Ruritan Club. Pete will be remembered for his love of the beach, playing and watching sports, and enjoying life to the fullest. Most of all, Pete will be remembered for his love of family and his role as “Grampy” to his precious grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Janet Bull Gregory; children, John Martin Gregory and wife Kim, Marinda C. Kimidy and husband Patrick; grandchildren, Carter Jane Kimidy and Ridley Gerrit Gregory; siblings, Virgie Gregory Dodge and husband Herb, and Eva Seiple and husband Bob; his mother-in-law, who loved Pete as her own, Mabel Bull, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Indian River Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Rev. Bert Kirk will officiate. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Chesapeake.
