Virginia Beach – William Joseph Cannon Jr, 75, passed away on December 9, 2016 at home.

He was born January 26, 1941 in Norfolk, VA to the late Jane C. Thomas and William J. Cannon, Sr.

Bill loved his family especially his granddaughters. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Nascar.

He retired after 40 years as a conductor with Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of Charity United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Creeds Ruritan Club.

Surviving are his wife Judith; daughters Judith Anne Thurston (Larry) and Mary Anne Sherwood; granddaughters Tori and Heather Thurston; siblings Lew Thomas, Woody Thomas, Jane Sawyer and their families; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard.

A memorial service will be held Saturday December 17, 2016 at 11:00 at Charity United Methodist Church, 4080 Charity Neck Rd, Va. Beach, Va. 23457
