George Anderson Harrison died on October 16, 2021. George grew up in Old Brookville,
NY, and was the son of Mary and David Harrison.
He attended The Greenvale School, The Episcopal High School and The College of
William & Mary before settling in Prince George County at Flowerdew Hundred Farm. He
had a successful career in real estate management, and he retired to enjoy gardening,
hunting, boating and travel. He was committed to maintaining friendships from childhood
through boarding school and beyond. George was the family historian, keeper of the fun
facts and always tried to make people laugh.
George is survived by his children, Gus Harrison (Maggie), Thomas Harrison, Zach
Harrison and Amalie Harrison, and his best friend and partner of many years, Jacki
Bartley. He is also survived by his siblings, David Harrison (Ashton), Marjorie Webb, Mary
Keevil, Anne Armstrong (Ted) and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Commonwealth Club and the Country Club of Virginia. He served
on many Boards including the James River Association, Maymont Foundation, CMoR and
St. Catherine’s School.
George will be missed for his wonderful personality, endearing kindness, engaging smile
and contagious sense of humor. He will be remembered as a faithful steward of his farm
overlooking his beloved James River.
