  • A founding member and the first President of Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society
  • A Vestryman and Trustee of Glebe Episcopal Church
  • Loved history and was highly valued as an historian of the City of Suffolk and Nansemond County

Professional Experience

  • 1947 Started his law practice in Suffolk
  • 1949-1954 a Trial Justice for Nansemond County
  • Served a number of years as Commonwealth Attorney for Nansemond County
  • Was Suffolk’s first City Attorney after the merger of Nansemond County in 1974
  • 1978-1991 served on the Suffolk General District Court bench

Military Experience

  • W. II Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy

EDUCATION

  • 1939 graduate of Chuckatuck High School
  • Earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the College of William & Mary where
