- National President – 1949
- During his term of office, he did considerable travel for Ruritan and at the end of his year, instead of accepting reimbursement for his travel expenses, he designated that the funds be placed in the Garland Gray Educational Fund. This was the forerunner of the Ruritan National Foundation created in 1968 and served as the first designated fund in the Foundation. The fund was changed to the Garland & Marvin L. Gray Fund upon the demise of Marvin Gray in 1964.
